Pediatric Dentistry
Regular care for children is extremely important for setting a great foundation for a lifetime of good oral hygiene and a healthy smile!
Our doctors are experienced in providing dental care for kids and strive to make these special patients feel comfortable during their examinations and treatments!
First Dental Exam
Your child should have their first dental exam after the first tooth appears and before their first birthday. While children do lose their "baby" teeth, these teeth are vital in helping children speak and chew properly. Additionally, these "baby" teeth create a path for their permanent adult teeth to follow when they erupt.
Dental check-ups are also important opportunities to create a good foundation for ongoing oral hygiene and give parents the chance to ask any questions they have about a child's oral health. The more they are exposed to the dentist, the less dental anxiety they will have as they know it is a routine in their life!
Your child's first dental visit will include a cleaning, fluoride treatment, a soft tissue examination, brushing and flossing instructions, a developmental examination and nutritional counseling for maintaining good oral health.
Sealants and Fluoride
Once it has been decided you are a candidate for an implant you will come in to place the titanium post into the jaw bone. Of course, you will be sufficiently numb at this appointment. Following placement, we will either cover the implant under your gums or have a small metal abutment coming out of the gums to allow healing.
There will be no permanent crown yet as we have to wait 3-6 months in order for your natural bone to grow around the implant and make it stronger. If the implant was placed in the front, we have options to place a fake tooth so it looks like you aren't missing anything. It is vital you do not place pressure on the implant when biting as it can cause the implant to fail.
Restorative Care
At Millennium Dental, we provide restorative dental services for children in addition to preventative care. Children can suffer from cavities, broken teeth, or malformed teeth just like adults. Our dentists and staff are trained to provide restorative care to meet the specific needs of children while helping them to remain calm and comfortable.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide is a gas, and is commonly known as aughing gas. We offer Nitrous oxide to help reduce a child's pain and anxiety during dental treatment. The gas is given through a small nosepiece, and your child will be awake throughout the procedure. Nitrous oxide does not cause any long-term effects. It wears off quickly after the procedure is over, and the child can go home without feeling groggy or nauseous!
