Bridges

A dental bridge is a non removable solution to replace one or more teeth.  They restore both the appearance and function of teeth by filling in the gap where a tooth is lost.

Why should I consider a bridge?

Dental Bridges:

  • Close the gap left by missing teeth

  • Preserves your natural face structure

  • Help keep surrounding teeth from drifting into the gap

  • Restore comfortable chewing and clear speech

  • Enhance the look of your smile

  • Offers a secure, long-lasting alternative to a removable partial denture

What to expect

Receiving a dental bridge typically requires 2 appointments:

First Visit: The treatment area is gently numbed, and the teeth are reshaped  to allow for the crowns on the adjacent areas of the missing tooth. Impressions are digitally taken with a camera and sent to a dental lab to create your custom bridge. At times sometimes the gel impression is used, but these are rare cases.  A temporary bridge is placed to protect your teeth and gums in the meantime while we wait for your bridge to arrive!

Second Visit: Your dentist will ensure the permanent bridge fits comfortably and looks natural, making any necessary adjustments. An xray is taken to ensure the bridge is seated well.  Once confirmed that it looks great we will cement it on !

Is there an alternative?

Yes! The best alternative to a bridge is a dental implant. With a dental implant the side teeth next to the missing tooth do not have to be touched at all if they are healthy. An implant is a titanium screw that is placed into the jaw ( We know it sounds scary but it's totally not and the appointment time is usually shorter than doing the bridge!) With this it can restore chewing and esthetics all the same AND you can floss like normal.
